AWS Well-Architected Framework Reviews made easy!
nOps has launched a new workload lens feature that can streamline and accelerate AWS Well-Architected Framework Reviews (WAFRs).
The AWS Well-Architected Framework describes the key concepts, design principles, and architectural best practices for designing and running workloads in the cloud. A Well-Architected infrastructure can drive business results like reducing costs or security and compliance risk, improving the reliability of your core systems for better customer experiences, and much more.
AWS WAFRs, where a critical workload is assessed for compliance with the five pillars of Well-Architected — Operational Excellence, Security, Reliability, Performance Efficiency, and Cost Optimization — make the Framework actionable. By answering a set of questions during a WAFR, you’ll see how well your architecture aligns with cloud best practices.
Here’s how a WAFR works using nOps
nOps dives into your infrastructure to auto-discover high-risk issues and auto-answer the WAFR questions. It assesses alignment with AWS Well-Architected Framework guidelines and helps identify recommendations for remediation. As a result, nOps accelerates and improves the accuracy of a WAFR or other AWS infrastructure assessment. And, nOps has API integration so that information created by nOps during the WAFR can easily be shared with the AWS Well-Architected Tool for AWS program reporting requirements.
The new workload lens feature
“Workloads” on nOps: Creating workloads on nOps enables you to build a set of resources that can be used in any of the AWS Well-Architected assessments, such as the WAFR or Foundational Technical Review (FTR).
Each workload has a type (e.g., Well-Architected, SOC 2, and HIPAA2) and a lens (a scope for the created workload). In the Well-Architected type, there are two lenses: one for the WAFR and one for the FTR.
Based on the resources added to the workload, the nOps workload lens feature accelerates the process of answering the standard WAFR questions by submitting them directly to AWS through the workload screen. It enables you to add recommendations for questions or answers, highlight high-risk resources, and export the answers into a report. And you can visually show diagrams and deployment guides by adding files or URL links.
