New Vertical Pod Autoscaler (VPA) Compatibility for nOps Container Rightsizing

Last Updated: May 29, 2025, Announcement
Run nOps’ rightsizing agent alongside your existing VPA
For teams already using Kubernetes’ built-in Vertical Pod Autoscaler (VPA), switching to an automated rightsizing solution often meant having to choose—disable VPA or forgo more advanced capabilities.
Starting today, you can run nOps Automatic Container Rightsizing alongside your existing VPA in the same cluster without having to worry about compatibility.
What's New
We’re excited to announce VPA compatibility in Compute Copilot, allowing you to install the nOps container rightsizing agent in clusters that already run Kubernetes’ native VPA.
nOps VPA Agent Compatibility
When you install nOps container rightsizing alongside your existing VPA, you can get the full benefits of nOps container rightsizing—policy-based optimization, action history, and rollback—with no change to your existing tools and workloads.
Why Use nOps Automatic Container Rightsizing?
nOps continuously analyzes your historical usage to automatically detect and fix overprovisioned pods, allowing you to rightsize containers at scale.
- Tailored recommendation policies: nOps will automatically analyze your usage data and recommend the right policy, or you can tailor policies to match your preferences (e.g., prioritizing high availability, cost savings).
- Automatic optimization: Save by putting your Kubernetes resource optimization on autopilot —freeing your engineering team to focus on building and innovating.
- Full visibility and control: View a full audit trail of optimization decisions, and roll back changes with a single click.
- Support for all common workload types: Including Deployments, CronJobs, DaemonSets, and StatefulSets.
How It Works
Just deploy the nOps rightsizing agent in a cluster that already has a VPA controller. The agent will detect the existing setup and install without any further action required on your part.
To enable nOps container rightsizing in clusters with an existing VPA:
- Head to the Compute Copilot tab
- Deploy the rightsizing agent as usual
- Begin applying recommendations or enable automatic optimization
