Introducing Business Unit Economics

Last Updated: September 10, 2025, Cloud Management
Gain insight into your costs per customer, product, users, and more. Make understanding your COGS as easy as ever.
Calculating Business Unit Economics and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) can be complex and time-consuming. The act of simply sourcing the data required related to those costs is already a challenge, let alone importing custom metrics.
With Business Unit Economics, nOps’ robust Cost Allocation aids perfectly in your journey to achieving your exact Cost per X. With Cost Allocation, we have alleviated the need for re-tagging workflows, especially when considering multi-cloud and SaaS costs — and the ability to ingest custom metrics means you get the exact answer you need, in real time, without delay.
nOps Cost Allocation and Business Unit Economics are calculated instantly. No need to wait 24-48 hours for your rules to update.
What's New
We’re excited to unveil Business Unit Economics, a powerful addition to our professional suite of cost allocation tooling. Bring your custom metrics, multiple cloud providers, and an ever-growing list of SaaS products into one dashboard.
Smart Cost Allocation & Key Business Metrics
With Business Unit Economics, you can define custom units, such as Customers, Products, and Users, and Showback Values for each business unit, cost center, or product. Track costs on a monthly basis with full historical data, and easily import or export data into CSVs.
Use cases include:
- Costs per customer per product
- Costs per user per business unit
- Costs per event per application
The result is total accountability for the true cost of your application, product, and/or environment.
