Tracking SaaS commitments can be challenging. Once you sign a contract committing to spend a certain amount, it becomes out of mind, out of sight — until it’s time for a quarterly review with the vendor.
This is where the nOps Burndown Tracker comes in
The Burndown Tracker is purpose-built to help teams track and manage any long-term cloud commitment, whether it’s AWS Private Pricing Agreement (PPA), Enterprise Discount Program (EDP), or third-party SaaS agreement such as Databricks, Snowflake, or other spending commitment transacted through the AWS Marketplace.

How it Works
The Burndown Tracker allows you to monitor how your actual cloud spend is progressing against a long-term prepaid commitment—whether it’s for AWS, SaaS, or Databricks. Once you create a project and input the details of your contract, nOps begins to automatically track and visualize your usage over time.
Let’s walk through how it works using a Databricks commitment as an example:
- Set Up a Project: Start by adding a new project in the Burndown Tracker. Define your contract details—such as start and end dates, yearly commitment amounts, and any discounts.
- Choose a Service: For example, in the “Track By” field, you can select Cost Entities, then choose Databricks as the entity to track.
- Automated Tracking: Once set, the Burndown Tracker automatically pulls in your actual usage from billing data and compares it against your commitment.
- Visual Progress Chart:
-
- A green bar means your monthly spend is on track.
- A red bar indicates either under-spending early or over-spending later in the contract.
- A red dashed blue line shows your monthly spending target.
- A blue dashed line displays how much of the total commitment remains.
- Tooltip popups reveal the exact monthly cost breakdown for detailed analysis.
By visualizing this data, your team can quickly see whether you’re over or under budget, and take action before it’s too late. No manual calculations, no spreadsheets, just an automated and easy-to-understand view of your contract burn.
